Televisions & video distribution

The quality of television, video equipment and broadcast material is now better than ever.

Whether you like sports, movies, drama or documentaries we can provide you with the very best viewing experience for any room in your house.

Our design team can ensure that your TVs are installed as discreetly as possible; we have a range of brackets, stands, cabinets and motorised lifts to suit all.

5 Thoughts about video.

  • The most popular television screen sizes are 55” and 65” for your main viewing room(s) and 43” to 50” for secondary viewing rooms ( kitchens, bedrooms etc).

With 4K UHD televisions the increased screen resolution means that you are comfortably able to sit much closer to larger screen than you were with previous generation HD televisions. - With a 55” screen size you can sit as close as 1 metre from the screen.

For an 85” 4K UHD television, the minimum recommended viewing distance is 1.6 metres so you really can have that big screen experience even in smaller rooms.

  • Video distribution is the way that you can centralise your house video sources (Sky, Virgin, BluRay etc) and share these sources with all the televisions in your home or workplace.

This is a great way of reducing the cluster of video boxes next to televisions AND being able to share high quality video sources like SkyQ 4K, Virgin 4K, and movie servers to all your home TVs.

However, with a video distribution system you will have to use a control system for each television location as you will not, in most instances, be able to use the controls supplied with your video sources.

With the latest SMART televisions and Mini video boxes from Sky and Virgin, it may be better to have everything at the television location - talk to us to find out what is best for your requirement.

  • Even the most premium priced televisions don’t have the sound output to fill a reasonably sized room adequately, so it is a good idea to connect your television to a sound system to get the best sound experience.

For primary television watching we would always suggest the sound should come from the viewing direction, not from the side or above your head, so a soundbar, on wall, in wall or bookshelf type speakers are the best options.

When we install television sound systems we always make sure there are no sound delays (Lipsync) and that all of the room audio sources can share the same loudspeakers seamlessly.

  • To comfortably watch a television, or projected image, your head should be positioned in the centre, or at least the bottom third of the screen.

We recommend that careful consideration is made when positioning televisions to make sure that they are comfortable and enjoyable for everybody to view.

For rooms where there are multiple heights like kitchens and bedrooms, we have a set of recommended television mounting heights, depending on the room type.

An often overlooked feature of televisions is the viewing angle. All television models have a viewing angle specification, to make sure that everybody in the room will be able to see the television properly, especially those seated to the sides of the room.

  • Installing televisions in custom joinery or hiding the television using motorised mechanisms are great ways of getting the television experience you want in the best room location.

If you want your television on wall or sitting on a cabinet, careful planning of cable routing, TV brackets and additional boxes will make the finished installation much nicer to look at.

We provide detailed scaled drawings for all our television installations - including cables, brackets, devices and ventilation to ensure you get the best look and experience.
